Why You Should Brush Your Dog’s Teeth

A recent clinical trial written up in the “Journal of Small Animal Practice” assessed the effectiveness of three dental plaque control methods in dogs:

  • once daily tooth brushing using veterinary toothpaste
  • once daily single dental hygiene chew
  • a prescription dental diet

After a six week period following a routine scale and polish procedure, daily brushing was shown to be more than three times as effective at controlling plaque compared to the other methods.
